I am the author of two novels: Death of a Typographer and Ghostlines.

Death of a Typographer was published by Australian Scholarly Publishing in 2019. In August 2020 it was shortlisted for the Ned Kelly Award for Crime Fiction.
“Nick Gadd’s Death of a Typographer is a romp of a novel. It’s a witty and playful quasi-detective fiction that’s populated by a motley crew of obsessives who swoon or grimace at particular letterforms. Gadd’s endearingly oddball characters ride on a narrative full of typographical jokes and exotic locations. You’ll never look at fonts again without appreciating their idiosyncrasies after reading this book.” – Thuy On, ‘Books of the Year 2019’, The Weekend Australian
My first novel Ghostlines won a Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for an Unpublished Manuscript in 2007 and a Ned Kelly Award for first crime fiction in 2009. It’s a mystery novel set in the Melbourne art world. It was republished in a new edition in 2020.
